Hotel Sofia, Best Renovation
The Hotel Sofia has been the winner of the Roca Award to the Hotel Initiative in the Best Renovation category. The Gran Hotel Inglés in Madrid, the Hotel Alhambra Palace in Granada and the Ilunion Calas de Conil in Calas de Conil (Cádiz) were the opponents of the hotel in Barcelona in this category.
After a complete renovation, the Avenida Diagonal recovers one of it more important symbols: the Hotel Sofia. With high-level proposals conceived for locals and visitors, Sofia introduces a new global concept in which design, cuisine, exclusive services and the digitalization of its premises offer unique and high-quality experiences to clients. Selenta Group, owner of this establishment, has invested 60 million euros in its renovation. Albert Blanch and the studio SBC have developed the architecture and interior design project that includes the design of the meeting rooms, common areas and facades, among other spaces. The rooms have been designed by the interior design studio of the Selenta Group.
The Roca Awards to the Hotel Initiative, which celebrate their 25th anniversary this year, were presented at the Roca Madrid Gallery on June 7th at a ceremony attended by around 250 guests.
Organized by the magazine Gran Hotel Turismo, from the Curt Ediciones publishing group, the Roca Awards to the Hotel Initiative pay tribute to hotels and hoteliers for their contribution to a sector that constantly surprises and renovates itself. Therefore, obtaining one of these awards constitutes an enormous prestige for those who work to improve a market such as the tourism branch, which is the main driver of the Spanish economy.
The Roca Awards to the Hotel Initiative are sponsored by Roca, in collaboration with Alvic Contract Experience, Central Hisúmer, Extrem Puro Extremadura, Orac Decor, Rational, Tattoo Contract, Vandemoortele, Vermut El Ingenioso and Viajes El Corte Inglés.
